shadowcatcher boudior & pin-up sessions, they’re HOT! April 29, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 5:02 pm

Earlier this month I had the opportunity to get in some Pin-up/ Boudoir sessions for some of our up-coming brides! We had a great “girls day” getting all of these done, and transforming a few of our brides into pin-up kittens… wow they looked amazing! Since these are all surprises for  their hubbies to be I can’t post any sneek peeks from them but here is one from Kelly’s session.

Kelly is our favorite and oh so talented hair and makeup diva.

Being a HUGE fan of the work of Varga and Petty the kings of pin-up, I love, love doing these sessions! Pin up sessions are usualy done with a  stark white background and have a sort of vintage 30-50’s kind of look. You can wear just about anything, the more retro the more fun! Boudoir can be done in any type of setting, and you can wear anything from a sexy nighty to bra & panties, whatever you are most comfortable with, you set the limits.

If you are considering a surprise wedding gift for your special guy, give this some thought. The sessions can be done in the privacy of your place, alone or with a group of your friends or other brides to be!  We have so much fun at these sessions, I bring along a couple suitcases of fun props, some coronas, champagne or wine. Hair and makeup is also vailable by Kelly. We can turn your images into a book, calendar, whatever you desire ;0)

Lisa & Brian’s balboa park e-session April 28, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 4:58 pm

After a fun filled, relaxing, oh so rare Saturday off, Skip and I got to spend some great time down in Balboa park on Sunday with Lisa and Brian!

Lisa and Brian are getting married in October at the Ranch Bernardo Winery.  Despite the heat, we had a great time working with these two, and despite what they said, they are total naturals in front of the camera! The look on Lisa’s face when she looks at Brian is sooo beautiful! We can’t wait for their wedding!

Amy & Steve’s Oceanview Villas Wedding at Sunset Cliffs April 21, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 4:22 pm

Saturday Skip and I headed off to Sunset Cliffs for Amy and Steve’s wedding. We had been hearing a lot lately about what a great venue the Oceanview Villas was and couldn’t wait to check it out.

The venue works out really well because you can block out all 6 of the condos there for family and have the whole place just for you … nice!

When I arrived up at Amy’s getting ready room, Kelly from Studio 158 was just finishing up with the girls makeup, so I had some time to get in some fun makeup and shoe shots.

Even though the ceremony was short and really sweet, we started to loose the ring bearer about 5 minutes into it. He was ADORABLE!

The weather was kind of overcast and really cool and breezy, but that only added  some really great scenic drama to the Amy & Steve’s Bride & Groom alone session!

Amy and Steve had the entire back patio tented in which added some uch needed warmth for their guests, and it looked great!

Their first dance had a fun surprise for us, they did the first dance surrounded by their guests on the dance floor and every guest had a giant sparkler.

Amy & Steve also had a photo booth set up, and all of their guests had a great time with it….. they did too!

Congratulations again you two… it was really great being a part of your day!

Susan and David Say “We Do” at Pala Mesa Golf Resort April 13, 2008

Saturday April 12th- Pala Mesa Golf Resort

Today we set off to Pala Mesa with a new member on the Shadowcatcher team… our new assistant Lizz. Lizz was a super bridesmaid  at Trisha and Keith’s wedding last month and  we saw right away this girl had assistant potential and then some, and we were lucky enough to have her join our amazing team of  talented and hard working assistants

Besides it being their wedding day, today was Susan and David’s 13 year anniversary of being together! Lucky 13!

The weather was a tad on the really warm side, but the day was beautiful! It was a small wedding, which was fun because we really had a chance to get to know  everyone and get them all captured in some amazing photo memories.

We had a really great day, filled with lot’s of laughs and warm moments… and not just from the weather ;-) Susan and David are a terrific couple and we all thank them so much for choosing us  to be a part of this special day!

Lindsay and Greg at the Dalrington House April 7, 2008

 Saturday April 5th,

Day two of our double-header wedding weekend had us out in Del Mar at the Darlington House for the wedding of Lindsay and Greg.

Our assistant Janelle and I headed inside to work with the girls while Skip and the guys had a great time working with all of the fun architecture of the house.

Lindsay’s gown was stunning! A beautiful ivory color with delicate lace trim. She looked amazing!

The day went beautifully, despite a little bump in the plans when the minister

no –showed ;-(     Fortunately, their DJ is an ordained minister and was able to step in and do a great job of getting these two married!

DJ Saves The day!

We always carry an emergency bag with us at weddings full of hair spray, bobby pins, band aids, etc. I never dreamed we might find the need to have a book of wedding vows and a certificate of ordination in there too. So now just in case…..Skip is an ordained minister, we did it online yesterday and it is perfectly legal.  We can shoot your wedding, and marry you too!

We were really happy that our timing went well and we had the time to whisk Lindsay and Greg off to the beach for some fun and romantic shots by the ocean. We grabbed a plate of some yummy looking appetizers from the kitchen for them and zoomed off to the beach.

After some champagne and fun on the beach, I think we were able to get these two back in the right wedding mood ;-)

We take pictures.. we don’t read signs ;-)   Oops!

Lindsay and Greg, it was an honor to be a part of your wedding day and we all wish you both the best!
