Alexis and Ron’s Balboa Park E-Session July 28, 2008

Saturday July 26th

Having a Rare saturday off from Weddings, Skip and I had a chance to get in a weekend E-session with Alexis and Ron!

Alexis and Ron admitted to us right in the beginning that they were a little nervous, but I think 5 minutes into the shoot, they totally forgot all of that and we had the best time ever! I had such a hard time keeping my camera still while laughing half of the time.

This was a great spot for a shot… the exact place Ron proposed. Awwww……… too romantic!

Alexis and Ron are getting married in May next year, and we can already tell, this is going to be one fun wedding!

Jessica and Peter part 2 July 28, 2008

July 23rd

Today Skip and I went back to meet Jessica and Peter in Cardiff to finish their E-session. Last time we made the mistake of not checking the tide schedule and had very little to work with at the beach, so we did a just a few shots… http://shadowcatcher.wordpress.com/2008/06/29/jessica-and-peters-almost-e-session/ and then set another date to do some more.

After checking the tide table this time, we had a much better area to work in!

Amy & Gary’s E-Session July 23, 2008

Tuesday July 22nd

Last night we had a super fun E-session with Amy and Gary. We started out at The Promonade and then headed to the OB Pier.

Sometimes you really just get lucky on a shoot. While driving down Newport on our way to the Pier we noticed a huge filming crew on Newport. Hollywood was in town filming  Mythological EX, or the Ex List something new in the CBS lineup coming this fall. Since they were set up for filming they had the most amazing lighting set up on the street and on our way back, we all parked and took advantage of it andgot some terrific shots! I found this online when we got home….

“Ex List” was created and written by Diane Ruggiero, one of the writers and producers of the “Veronica Mars” show,” which was also filmed in San Diego.
Sound mixer Trevor Black said the storyline revolves around a young woman living in OB. A fortuneteller tells her that she will either marry her prefect match within a year or never at all. The twist to the tale is that she has already met and broken up with the right man. The episodes will revolve around her quest to discover which one of her exes is Mr. Right.”

This is the amazing lighting we were so lucky to take advantage of. This softbox was HUGE! It was floating right over the middle of Newport Ave. and gave us the best light ever! We really need one of these, not sure how we could fit it in the Durango, or how Erin and Janelle would carry it around on our shoots, but it is fun to dream ;0)’

Amy and Gary are getting married in September…. we can’t wait!

Lila and Richards Point Loma Wedding! July 21, 2008

Sunday July 20th

Today started really early for us, so we started off the day with our usual early wedding day power breakfeast of Mc Griddles and Starbucks. That must be so packed with calories, it keeps us full all day! Today we had Janelle working with us on day 2 of our double header wedding weekend.

Lila and Richard came out to San Diego from Texas for their wedding, so we really hadn’t met until 2 days before the wedding, but we all fell in to a comfortable mode right off the bat and the day went beautifully!

I was sooo happy to see that the Oceanview room upgraded the grass out in the ceremony area! The last few weddings we had done there had me really disappointed in the look and feel of things, it just made the whole area look kind of sad… but this faux grade upgrade really livened things up! Much better!

Best best man entrance to a reception… EVER! Wooooo!

I always have to giggle about how different the guys react to the garter toss than the girls with the bouquet..look at those faces ;o)  Oh ya… here comes the garter… zzzzzzzzz……

Lila and Richard, it was terrific being a part of your day! We will remember it always!

Michelle and Nicks Wedding Day! July 21, 2008

Saturday July 19th

Today the Shadowcatcher team, with assistant Janelle, headed down to Chula Vista for Michelle and Nick’s wedding. The church was beautiful! Michelle had been telling me about how much we were going to love it and it did not disappoint! It had some really great photo spots and the stained glass was stunning! The breeze that blew through this walkway added some great drama to this dress shot… it looked very ghostly blowing in there!

We just love it when we get to see some of Shadowcatcher alum brides and grooms at new weddings! This is Trisha and Keith who’s wedding we did at Angels Landing in Julian a couple of years ago….. their new addition is just the cutest!

Meet team Shadowcatchers newest assistant and mascot… Darrell! Darrell  was the centerpiece at our table and came with a little note that said. ….”please take me home”. Darrell and I instantly bonded at dinner and I knew he was going to be the perfect companion for me at my desk here while I edited away here. This was  a great centerpiece idea, all the guests really seemed to love their fishes ;o)

Michelle and Nicks day was sooooo much fun! There were moments that had us tearfull and others that had us laughing so hard. These two are amazing together!

Congratulations again guys… and thanks so much for choosing us to capture the day!

ila and dj’s engagement session July 18, 2008

Wednesday July 17th

Last night we had a blast working with Ila and Dj! Ila and Dj wanted something downtown and a little bit of greenery in Balboa Park. So…. to switch things up a bit and get some fun new locations in we met them at the Park Admin building across from Balboa Park. We had some fun scenery and no crowds!

After the park we headed to the Gaslamp and worked until there was no more light… honestly, we could have shot all night with these two!

crystal & scott have an early morning e-session! July 14, 2008

Saturday June 12th La Jolla Cove

Saturday morning Skip and I made our first stop at Starbucks for giant caffine jolt and then headed out to La Jolla for an early morning e-session with Crystal and Scott. We missed the crowds which was great… had the cave all to ourselves! Woooo!

Crystal and Scott booked us kind of last minute…and we are so happy they did… their wedding is next month at the Prado!
