pupdate… Weston is home, the surgery went great! September 30, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 3:04 pm

Tuesday Sept. 30th

Yesterday had to be the longest day of my life! Wes had his surgery and the time dragged on so long all day. I dropped him off at 8:30am and then got myself a Vente Peppermint Mocha and glued my butt to the chair here planning to just work the day away editing and filling orders. Usually the time flies by here, but yesterday it dragged on and on and on. I even covered up all of the clocks in the house with post it’s so I couldn’t see the time. Finally at 3:45 they called to let us know he was out of surgery and everything went well. At 4:45 we got to pick him up.

What I wasn’t prepared for was how out of it he still was from the drugs… he was worse than a drunken sailor. He couldn’t even walk and was really kind of freaked out about everything. He was looking around wildly trying to focus on things and whining like he was being beaten. We put him in the back of the Durango and then Skip drove home while I laid in the back holding him.

IMO, they should never release pets until they are fully out of the anesthesia.

All is good now, after he got his fill of food and water this morning he is a happy camper once again. We have 14 days of heavy monitoring to do on him until all of the stitches come out, and we have to carry all 60 pounds of him up and down  the stairs for the next 14 days… but our little guy is home, the lump is off, and we couldn’t be happier.

Did you know… Dalmatians are not only spotted on their fur, but on their skin too? Yup… they are all pink with black spots! And they look a little silly without that fur… shhhhhhhh!

Surfs Up! No wait… it’s Sherry and John’s wedding day! September 28, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 7:59 pm

Saturday September 27th~ EncinitasToday Skip and I were back to the basics, just the two of us, no assistants and the most amazing private residence wedding ever, we were really looking forward to this one!

Sherry and John are the two most down to earth, amazing people ever! And their wedding day was just THE best ! We knew when we did their engagement session back in May that this was one special couple.

Sherry and John’s good friends Rocky and Candy offered the use of their beautiful home as the venue.. it was amazing! Beautiful grounds and the best photo props ever… Rocky’s Woody’s! I was a little worried that I might loose Skip to the cars all day but he did a great job staying on track ;o)  John and his guys are longtime surfers and there were so many great elements of that brought into the day.

We had the best time ever working with Sherry and John, the bride and groom session we did alone with them was really rockin!

Here are a few of our favorites from the day…

 This was the greatest idea!

Sherry and John, you two are a match made in heaven! We both thank you so much fro choosing us as your photographers, it was great getting to know you both, and even better being there to share is and capture all of those moments! You guys are awesome! We wish you all the best!

Non- Wedding, sort of personal… well ya, personal September 26, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 8:07 pm

Monday the 29th is going to be a VERY difficult day for me… yes, I am one of those crazyy people who thinks of their pets as children… but with this one, it has been impossible not to!

Weston has been a HUGE part of my life, and sort of my right arm for the last 12 years. Over the last year, he developed a growth/lump, some sort of ugly thing on his side and Monday he is having surgery to have it removed, and biopsied.

I am totally freaked out about this! Absolutely scared to death. 12 is a bit on the not so young side for a Dal and I am just so worried about the anesthesia.

I am going to try and stay really busy all day Monday editing until the afternoon when I can go pick him back up, and do plan to be out of communications all day, I am sure I will just be too stressed to handle any calls or email well.

So… if you need me or our Office Manager Wes, please try us again on Tuesday or leave a message, we will get back to you. And please say a small prayer that all will be well.

Thanks!… Heather & Wes

Us at Christmas   ;o)

Ila and Dj’s Western Ceremony where East meets West Part II September 23, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 12:47 am

Sunday September 21st

Today we were back with Ila and DJ, this time for their Western ceremony. After the day before at their Hindu Ceremony Saturday (see below) I didn’t think Ila could look any more amazing, but in her traditional American Gown, she was stunning!

Today we were back again at Cuvier Park, where we were just the day before with Amy and Gary, I almost felt like we should have brought a tent and spent the night ;o)

We had a great time working with Ila and Dj and seeing their families and friends again; they are all the most wonderful people, so warm and caring. We all were made to feel like family as well. It was so nice!

After the ceremony at Cuvier we went down to Balboa Park to their reception at The Prado. We had a nice amount of time to spend wander around the park with the newlyweds and got some beautiful Bride and Groom alone images.

The reception was very beautiful, warm, intimate, and elegant. The food…  AMAZING! And always impressive they way they serve the food at the Prado, it is such a work of art. Every table had about 4 servers who do a beautifully choreographed presentation of placing the dinners on the table.

Here are a few of our favorite shots of the day…

Ila and DJ, we all thank you so much for choosing us to share in these two ceremonies and capture the memories, it was an honor and a privledge working with you both!

Amy and Gary’s Cuvier Park and MOCA Wedding! September 22, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 9:46 pm

Saturday September 20th Part 2 of our day.

After spending a few hours with Ila and DJ we made a quick pit stop to change clothes and grab some food… (Wooo Rubios) .. then we ran over to Mission Valley to meet Amy and the girls for some shots before the wedding.

Amy was breathtaking in her gown, a true fairytale princess! We spent an hour getting in some shots of her and the girls along with Amy’s parents, and then jumped in the car to jet down to Cuvier for some before shots with Gary and his guys.

The ceremony was done by Jerry Bryant, who always does the most beautiful, personal weddings… everyone there feels so much a part of everything.

The reception at the Museum of Contemporary Art was just beautiful! We hadn’t had the opportunity to shoot there yet, and absolutely loved it! The architecture was really fun to work with. We were treated to the most amazing dinner which was catered by TK   A Custom, it was delicious… thank you Amy and Gary!

It was a beautiful day and Amy and Gary were just the best to work with!

Here are some of our Fav’s form the day…

The added fun of a beach wedding.. everyone wants to get in on the act! ;o)

Who IS this dude???????

We have to thank Lindsay and Gregg for bringing us together with Amy and Gary. We shot Lindsay and Gregg’s wedding at The Darlington House earlier this year… it was so much fun seeing them again at Amy and Garys Wedding!

Amy and Gary… CONGRATULATIONS! You two are the “Perfect Pair” and we had the best time being a part of this day! Woooo!

The other Wedding Vendors we had the pleasure of working with:

Ila and Dj’s Hindu Ceremony September 22, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 9:45 pm

Saturday September 20th 2008

This morning we got of to a really early start, meeting our assistant Janelle at 8am, we loaded up with our favorite caffeine jolt at Starbucks and headed south to the Dana on Mission Bay.

We were all really pumped up about this one. Ila and Dj did a traditional Hindu ceremony that was sooo amazing! I LOVE the tradition in this type of ceremony. There is so much symbolism, so much color, so much happening! Ravie Davide was their priest, which was fun because we had worked with him before when we did Anuja and Andrews wedding last year.

Ila and DJ did both a Hindu ceremony and also a Western Ceremony on Sunday that we joined them for… see above. I loved how they celebrated both cultures. What a weekend!

Here are some of our favorites from their Hindu ceremony…

jessica and peter’s paradise point wedding September 15, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 2:41 am

Saturday September 13th

We started off the day at the Hotel Del with a great getting ready session with Peter and Jessica. Skip was off with the guys and Janelle and I were with Jessica and her girls. Jessica had arranged for there to be plenty of time for shots of all of the different groupings all around the hotel so we were able to get some really great, varied locations in. The day was beautiful coordinated by Kelly Tompkins from Too a T

The ceremony at Paradise Point was beautiful the groom arrived in a Ferrari, which was kind of fun and different! I think that’s the guy version of a horse and carriage ;o)

The night was filled with lot’s of love and warmth from family and friends.

We were also really excited to try out our new investment, our video light. it worked great and now provides us with some additional really cool off camera lighting for our images, stepping it up just a little bit more here!

So, now on to the images, here are our fav’s from the day……

A very teary moment as Jessica made her way to see Peter for the first time, where he proposed at 1500 Ocean.

Jessica and Peter had “Travel” as the theme for their wedding. I remember hearing during the toasts that Jessica’s Grandmother told her once that the gift of travel was the greatest gift you could give someone.

I was super excited to be able to get this shot! I had seen these chairs so many times at Paradise Point and had this vision, but never had the time to get this shot. This one just reminds me so much of a 1940’s travel postcard… I LOVE old postcards!

Our assistant Janelle has been geting some amazing shots recently. This is one she shot as we did the image below it.

Congratulations again to you both! We wish you a safe and super fun filled Honeymoon in Bora Bora… now that is some TRAVEL!

katy and jeff’s oak meadows wedding! September 9, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 12:02 am

Sunday September 7th

We always love it when we get the opportunity to shoot in a location that is new to us. Our creativity gets a real workout figuring out in a split second the best angles and spots for all of our shots! Oak Meadows is a really beautiful venue. At night… even more spectacular with fire burning in the fountains on the lake… nice!

The day was a bit on the really hot side up in Temecula, but we got used to it quickly and had an amazing time working with Katy and Jeff! These two are the most fun! Katy was radiant and her gown…. Wowza girl! And those shoes!

The day was amazing, we just a had a little glitch at the end regarding noise restrictions, but we pulled some Shadowcatcher magic out of the bag and took Katy and Jeff off for what turned out to be an amazing, romantic, Bride & Groom session out on the grounds.

Here are some of our favorites from the day…..

We were so touched by this… we had our own personalized table card with our name.. and a special Katy and Jeff wine cork! Thank you  guys!

These two know how to PAR-TAY!

Katy and Jeff you two sure know how to throw a wedding! WOOO! We wish you both all the best and hope the hurricanes stay out of your Honeymoon path! And we are so looking forward to getting together when you get back!
