Today Skip and I took a break from decking the halls for the Holidays here and spent some time with Kerry and Ben at the beach for their engagement session.

Kerry and Ben are getting married February 15th at the Westgate in San Diego.

We had a terrific session, mother nature gave us the most amazing sunset! Just beautiful!

ever wonder what it would be like to work with your wedding photographer BEFORE  your wedding?

Earlier this month we contracted the services of  San Diego High Definition Weddings  to follow us at Jessica and Mark’s wedding at the Pala Mesa Resort. Our goal was to get a great video that would show our prospective clients what it is like being on the other side of our cameras. We hoped they would capture all of the laughs and fun we have with our clients at every wedding and event we do.

And YES they did!

Jennifer and Morgans E-session teasers November 23, 2008

Saturday November 22nd- Leo Carillo Ranch and Cardiff State Beach

This afternoon Skip and I met Jennifer and Morgan at Leo Carillo Ranch for their engagement session. We were really jazzed that they liked the idea of the ranch for their session because it is a place we had been checking out for a long time, and were dying to do a shoot there. And it did not disappoint! I think we could spend hours on our shoots there, it is like a photographers Disneyland… soooo many great spots!

Here are some of our favorites from the ranch…..

YES! That IS a real Peacock! These guys are running all over the ranch!

After the ranch, our plan was to head over to the beach for some sunset shots, but… sadly, the weather didn’t get our memo. It was totally overcast, and pretty ugly. We decided to go for a re-shoot on a better day since Morgan and Jens wedding isn’t until next October, we had time to wait it out for a great sunset.

Since the weather bombed, we used the opportunity to try out a new lighting system that we had been working on. We love the look of our off camera studio lighting, but have always been hesitant to lug it all around the beach if we don’t have an assistant with us. The light always needed someone standing with it so it didn’t get taken down by the wind. We both want to be shooting, not just standing there holding the light so we never used it at the beach. But now…. we have worked out a great system where we have the light anchored to a wagon and that leaves us both free to shoot and the light is safe…. woo! It’s all about bringing the best possible lighting to our clients! ;o)

Morgan and Jennifer were terrific and helped us out with a test run. We did get some nice shots, but look forward to part two of their session when we can really rock the sunset!

Morgan and Jen, will be getting married in October at The Rancho Bernardo Winery!

Help us name the boudoir/pin-up side of our business November 18, 2008

We are trying to come up with a name for this side of our business and would love some feedback… names are sooo hard!

If you have any other ideas, we would LOVE to hear them!

A Sunday Boudoir session with Erica November 17, 2008

Yesterday I had the best time working with Erica at the Inn at Los Willows doing her boudoir session. With the 2009 wedding season behind us, it is really great to have the time on our calendar for me to work on boudoir sessions. Erica is getting married on Valentines Day at Los Willows, and did her session at the fabulous Inn at Los Willows as a surprise gift for hubby to be Adam. Erica plans to give him a smokin hot album of her pics the night before the wedding… what a tease! ;o)

Erica met me at the Inn with all her girls along for support, we had an amazing time working in all of the great spots at the Inn, while the girls kept Erica’s hair and makeup perfect and helped keep the Mimosa glasses filled!

I still have a few openings on the calendar for boudoir sessions, so if you are thinking about that perfect little gift for your sweetie for the holidays, be sure to give send us an email.. stat.. to get yourself booked! Sessions must be completed by December 8th to ensure Holiday delivery. No worries though if you miss that date, Valentines Day is right around the corner!

Shadowcatcher’s 2008 Weddings Highlights

!

When I woke up this morning it hit me… it’s Saturday, and we don’t have a wedding to go to! At first I was kind of excited about that idea, and then I started thinking…ok… what do we want to do today? I thought about all of the house projects we started at the beginning of the year and never finished, then all of the new projects we have been talking about doing since May… hmmmm… none of these really sounded like a good motivation to get out of bed!  So I guess here is where we start going back to being normal people for the next few months!

Our calendar is filled up with portrait, boudoir and engagement sessions for the next few months but it really is kind of sad knowing the last wedding of our season has come and gone.

So…. to make myself feel better this morning I went back through the slideshows of all of the weddings we did this year and put together a highlights slideshow of some of our favorite moments.

When I watched this for the first time, I got really chocked up… what am amazing year we had.! We have met the most amazing people ever, ate some of the best food, laughed, cried some happy tears, and have formed some lifelong friendships!

Thanks to all of the 2008 Shadowcatcher Brides and Grooms… we love you guys!

Saturday November 8^th

 Today the Shadowcatcher team headed out in full force to Jessica and Mark’s wedding at the Pala Golf Resort in Fallbrook. Since we were working with a larger bridal party, and were running on a really tight timeline, we brought along both of our assistants to help us keep everything smoothly and on time. And it was our last big wedding of 2008 and we love working with both of the girls!

 Skip and Erin paired up to work with Mark and his guys, and Janelle and I rocked it with Jes and her bridesmaids. This group was the most fun ever, what an amazing end to our 09 wedding season!

 Mark and his groomsmen are firefighters and we just have to say.. .these guys are the bomb!

Jessica and Mark had the band Rembrandt play at their reception.. this band was hands down the best live band we have EVER heard at a wedding, absolutely AMAZING! If you are considering a live band for your reception, this is the one. I just can’t say enough about their sound. Even if you are not getting married.. check these guys out at- http://www.rembrandtband.com/ their site has a lot of play lists and samples.

And what does a fireman and his new bride cut the cake with?  …….. Priceless guys!

If you are a Starbucks junkie you can appreciate this post. Today is the day, the arrival of the coveted RED CUP! And the holiday season… my all time favorite time of year!

After voting I went over to my local bux to get a Peppermint Mocha to help me through a power editing session today. The line was out the door and I almost turned away… and then I saw them….. the red cups, I think I got a little waaay to excited and jumped right into line! Nothing compares to the taste of a Peppermint Mocha in a red cup on a rainy day! You put the same drink in the white cup, and it looses half the flavor… I am such a visual person!;o)

So… doin the happy dance here today, got out and voted, enjoying the cool rainy day and my PM in a red cup! Wooooo life is good!
