Shamyne and Mike’s Romantic Sunset Beach Session January 31, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 1:41 am

Thursday January 29th.

Today Skip and I were really excited to try out a new spot for sunset sessions in PB. Engagement sessions are always so much fun because it gives us great chance to work with our couples very one on one getting to know them so much better before the wedding. Our sessions are always so relaxed and fun, it’s really hard to call it work.

This new spot was ahhhhhh-mazing! We got some great shots, and working with Shamyne and Mike was great, they are so much fun and so natural together, it’s like these two were just made for each other.

We are busting at the seams over this one! January 28, 2009

We have kept this quiet , well as quiet as we could, but with just a few days to go until we get the keys… I HAVE to Blog this out there………….

Shadowcatcher Imagery and Shadowcatcher Boudoir by Heather have a real live studio in Escondido! Woooooooo!

We get the keys and begin renovations on Sunday. And oh man… do we need to do some renovating. Our studio space shares the building with a frame shop and our part is 600 lovely, private sq feet. Currently occupying the space we will be renting is a cabinet maker  and the place is floor to ceiling sawdust.  We get in there and start painting on Sunday and we have some BIG plans for turning this into the most amazing studio space ever! I plan to do some before and after pictures, because the vision that is dancing around in our heads is so not what you see right now ;o)

Getting studio space is something we really needed, the Children’s, Maternity, Babies,  Family Lifestyle,  and  Boudoir and Pin-Up part of our business is growing so fast and we really needed a place to be able  to give all of our clients the perfect  studio experience.

We are also really jazzed to have partnered up with another wonderful photographer who will be sharing the space with us, kind of like a time share situation. Half the time it’s ours, the other half hers.

Our target date to have all of the work completed and have our Grand Opening is March 1st.

So stay tuned for more news on  our progress, and for some amazing Grand Opening specials!

Horsin around at los willlows with tara and geeska January 27, 2009

tara001Yesterday we had the best time out at our favorite venue….Los Willows! Los Willows is such an amazing spot and even more so when are there without the timeline of a wedding.

Years ago I saw my first Fresian Horse at a Renn faire and was just blown away by the size, beauty and magestry of these amazing horses. Last year, I found out that a stylist friend of mine was living with someone who had one of the horses. To make a long story short, after almost a year of planning we were able to schedule a shoot with Tara and Geeska ot at Los Willows. The staff and owners at Los Willows were so wonderful to let us use the property for our shoot, and super kudos to Bobby at Los Willows who braved the chilly day and stuck with us through the whole session.

I have so many people I want to thank here in the blog, so many who went way and above on their days off to help pull this all together…

Erin, for having the beautiful Geeska and bringing her out to Los Willows, Geeska for being so amazing,Tara for being such a great model and horsewoman and braving the goosebumps, Dena at Studio 158 for doing Tara’s hair, Jennifer Phomphakdy – Studio 158 for makeup, Los Willows for the generous use of the property, and our assistants Janelle and Lizz for all their wonderful help! You guys all ROCK! Thank You!

Here are a few of our favs from the session, we still have so many more to go through but these just really popped out for me…..

A Boudoir Sneek Peek from Marisol and Nydia’s session January 20, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 11:24 pm

Sunday I had an amazing session with Marisol and Nydia. Marisol and Nydia did a mix of Pin-up, Glamour and Boudoir and had a smokin’ hot session.  The girls contracted Marqui of Marqui Artistry for their makeup, and as always, Marqui did a fabulous job.  The girls looked like they were ready to step right out of a fashion magazine.

Marisol and Nydia did the session with a calendar in mind, so we had a really long, but very fun, session taking them both through all the months of the year.  The girls met us at the studio where Marqui did makeup while I went over shoot ideas with the girls while they sipped champagne…. nice start to the session!  Nydia and Marisol are both fashion designers and totally rocked it in style, their clothes were amazing!

Here are my favorites from their sessions……

Bridalpalosa! January 18, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 4:50 pm

bb_booth09Wow! My head is still buzzing from this one the day after! But what a show!

Yesterday we had the whole Shadowcatcher staff at the Bridal Bazaar at the convention center downtown. This journey began for us 4 years ago when we tried to  get into our first Bridal Bazaar show.  Wedding photography in San Diego seems to have the most vendors wanting to be in the show, and since they have a cap on how many they let in, we had to sit on a waiting list for 4 years waiting for someone to drop off before we could get in.  We got our “welcome, you made it in” letter right before Christmas and had only about 5 weeks in between Christmas and frantic holiday order deadlines to pull this all together.

We were SO excited to get in and I think the wait was worth it, it was an amazing show!  Soooo many people!  We decided to try something a little different too by showing not only our wedding images, but also to get the Boudoir side of Shadowcatcher out there big time.  And that was super popular!  I had to smile because I saw sooo many grooms take the boudoir cards and sneak them into the big info bags that their brides were carrying.  Ok girls…. now you know what he wants ;o)

It was a really long and exhausting day, but we all had a great time and hopefully met with  the newest Shadowcatcher brides and grooms!

Lani and Joel’s Big E- session January 14, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 6:33 pm

Skip and I spent the afternoon with nature and Lani and Joel yesterday. We met up out at Torrey Pines State Park for the session and were all a little disappointed when we saw the park closed at 5pm, with sunset right around that time, we decided to do some shots out on the trails there and then drive over to the beach in Cardiff to get some sunset shots.

Our plan worked out really well and we got some great  snake free shots out at Red Rock, and had an amazing sunset to work with… again. Mom nature has so been on our side this past week! Thanks Mom!

Here are a few of our favorites from the session…….

We had a blast working with Lani and Joel, and cant wait till their wedding!

sunsets rock! January 12, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 7:08 pm

All week long Skip and I had been seeing the most amazing sunsets, but we were really bummed because we were not doing any engagement sessions, and all the great sunsets were going unused! So… we called up Morgan and Jennifer who’s beach sunset session kind of went shades of gray last month due to the lack of sunset. We did the first part of their session at Leo Carrillo Ranch and it was great but when we got to the coast it was super gloomy.

Our goal is to always get the best sunset shots available, so  if we have a beach session and the weather is gloomy, we will  try and reschedule if possible. Since Morgan and Jennifer’s wedding isn’t until October, we all knew we had the time for a do-over… and it we were so glad we did… it was AMAZING!

Here are a few of our favorites,…….just give us an amazing sunset and we will rock it….wooo!

We LOVE shooting sunsets!

They did such a great job we had to reward them with a Totsie Pop ;o)

The weather was absolutely beautiful, a bit on the really chilly side, but sooo amazing! The sunset… to die for!

Autumn and Eric brought along their 4 legged baby…Luna, who was the perfect supermodel and also had a terrific time running around the park playing with the other dogs!

Autumn and Eric are getting married in just a few weeks at Los Willows, so stay tuned for much more of Autumn and Eric!
