Best of Weddings 2008 Competition, the results are in! February 26, 2009

And our bride Brenna is a winner!

I am so beyond excited, and really can’t believe it! Yesterday we were notified that the image we submitted of our good friend/client,  Brenna was the winner in the portrait category at the best of weddings competition held at WPPI, the big photography convention in Las Vegas last week. Wow! What an honor!

Kerry and Ben’s Amazing Wedding at the Westgate Hotel February 19, 2009

Day two of our Valentines Wedding Weekend had us at the beautiful Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego, for the wedding of Kerry and Ben.

We had never done a wedding at the Westgate and had also never done a traditional Jewish wedding. Kerry and her Aunt Ilana were so helpful, meeting us at the hotel earlier last month and  they both took the time to teach us all of their traditions and got us acquainted with the hotel so we could see where all of the days events would be happening… we love being prepared ;o)

We were both soooo looking forward to this day, and were so not disappointed! It was amazing from start to finish, and we are still talking about it!

The floral arrangements were done by Splendid Sentiments, which we can never say enough good things about, and I have to say I seriously gasped when I walked into the ballroom and saw the arrangements that Bethany created for Kerry and Ben… breathtaking!The lighting in the room was done by Steve Wemmer of Golden Sounds entertainment, and that combined with the florals from Splendid Sentiments, made the room look magically warm and inviting.

Because of all of this, I had a seriously difficult time selecting just a few images for the blog, and am blogging much more than usual. I hope through these images you can follow the warmth, fun, tradition, elegance, love and beauty of this amazing day, and see it through our cameras eye!

Kerry and Ben, thank you from all of us for choosing as your photographers. We really enjoyed ourselves so much! You and your families made us all feel so comfortable, and joining in, and learning about all of your traditions was incredible!

valentines day with erica and adam February 18, 2009

Valentines Day… the day of love…… what better day to capture the love at a wedding?

We had been looking forward to Erica and Adams wedding for a long time. After doing their Engagement session and a Boudoir session with Erica, we had become really close to these two.

The weather was kind of on the really chilly side, but the warmth of the emotions really made us forget just how cold it was.

Erica’s gown was, in a word… STUNNING!

Erica and Adam had special wedding gifts for each other that they wanted to exchange before the wedding, but without seeing each other. So we set the stage in the images below so that they could exchange gifts and a few sweet words without seeing each other. Adam gave Erica a beautiful diamond heart necklace… and Erica gave Adam a very special album of images that we had done at her boudoir session a few moths before. Adam was blown away!

It was a really wonderful day, again one of those that makes us so love our work!

We also were so happy to be working with Norma again from NR3 Video.. Norma is da bomb! We also were so happy to see we had Jerry from Becks Entertainment keeping things movin. There is nothing like a wedding with Jerry in charge of the tunes, we dance all the way back to our cars at the end of the night!

Erica and Adam, working with you both on all of your pre-wedding and wedding images has been so much fun, you guys are the best, we are just so sorry it’s over!

Autumn and Eric’s wedding teasers February 10, 2009

Autumn and Eric were Shadowcatcher’s first couple to say… “I DO” in 2009! We were really excited to be starting a fresh new season and didn’t let the torrents of rain that were falling on the 15 as we drove up to Los Willows dampen our enthusiasm. When we arrived the skies cleared a bit and we were able to get in all of Autumn and Eric’s pre wedding shots done in the beautiful outside setting at Los Willows.

Due to the unpredictable weather though, the ceremony was held inside the pavilion, which was a good call, because a few minutes into the ceremony it started to pour! But again, the weather was on our side, because once we were ready to go outside for the group shots, it was beautiful again! And our bride and groom alone session went beautifully! Autumn and Eric are just so great together, their love for eachother just can’t be hidden!

our new studio is up and running! Woooo! February 9, 2009

Monday February 9th

We are so beyond excited, after only one week of blood, (ya we did have blood) sweat, no tears but some friendly arguing ;o)…….. we are ready to roll!

Yesterday we got the floor to the new studio painted and this morning ran in early to get all of the furniture in place for my first Boudoir session in our studio!

We still have a ways to go to be where we would like to be, but for now couldn’t be happier with the progress and are ready to start bringing clients in for Portraits, Family Sessions, Boudoir Sessions, Children, and Mommies to be!
