We all had such a great time… it seemed like we just got started and then were done! And thanks mom nature for such an amazing sunset when we really needed one! I love it when we have her on our side ;o)

Lori and Ben are getting married in June at The Grand Tradition, and we can’t wait for this wedding!

WOW! What a hot one this was…. in more ways than one!

Sunday as Skip and I pulled up to Los Willows the car thermometer screamed 102! Yikies!

Despite the heat we ended up having the best day ever! Julia and David have a super cool calm about them, that made the day flow like magic. Their reception was terrific as well!

Here are a few of our favorites from the day…….

Note to my loving husband and partner… This is why I carry everything in the world in my camera bag, you never know when you might need an emergency something blue!

Shannon’s Trash The Dress or Trash The Photographer ;o) April 13, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 7:16 pm

Friday April 10th

In between editing work and Fashion week, we had the opportunity to sneekin a Trash The Dress with Shadowcatcher Alum bride Shannon. Since her wedding, Shannon has moved to Georgia, and was in town for her moms Birthday. We had been wanting to do a Trash The Dress at this spot from the first time we saw it, and knew Shannon would be the perfect bride to rock this session… and woza did she ever!

We started the day with hair and makeup  for Shannon by Kelly Camp of Swank Salon and then were met by Bethany from Splendid Sentiments Florals who made us 2 outstanding bouquets to use on the session. Bethany is always so wonderful to us, we can dream up a concept, and she always produces it 10 times better!

Kelly and Bethany… thanks so much to you both! Without your creative efforts our images wouldn’t be  anywhere near what they are! You two ROCK!!!!!!

We had a little problem with the weather… rain ;o( But with Shannon being from out of town ans just here for a short visit, we had to go on. We were delayed a few times by rain, cold and hail… but in the end, it was all worth it!

Here are a few of our favs from the session…..

Splendid Sentiments Bouquets are for everyone ;o)

Thanks so much Shannon for being such a terrific model for us! We had a blast!

Where have we been all week???????? ……..Fashion Week Escondido 2009

Skip and I are soooo jazzed to have had the opportunity to photograph Fashion Week  all last week, we are super exhausted, but are so happy we did it. To take on a project this huge right before the start of crazy busy wedding season was a tough decision, but the opportunity was too great to pass up. We met some really terrific people, had the chance to perfect our portrait and photo-journalistic skills, and had a great time!

Our apologies for being a bit behind on emails etc. all last week, we were pulling double duty here, working Shadowcatcher biz from 6am till noon, then heading off to the center for the Arts from 2-9 every day. But today we are back on track!

At the show, we had a perfect raised platform at the end of the runway where we worked the show all week. Before showtime we were behind the scenes in makeup and costuming, and had a great area where we were set up to do some shots of the models hair and make up for the stylists.

Here are a few of our favorites from the week. Be sure to click on the behind the scenes slideshow above! This was a special little project I gave myself for the week as a treat. All of those were shot with the idea of creating a sort of dark and edgy behind the scenes look at the week.

LOVED these eyelashes!

The dance routines all week were spectacular! All of the dancers were from Georgia’s School of Dance in Escondido.

The Runway……..

I think my favorite part of the week was the Recycled Fashions. Artists used all recycled materials to create these fashions. Dresses were made out of shopping bags, coffee filters, maps, it was amazing!

The winner of the recycled competition… the Beach Ball Dress! LOVE IT!

Shadowcatcher at Fashion Week- Escondido April 5, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 6:18 pm

Tomorrow evening is the huge kick off for Escndido’s Fashion week at the California Center For the Arts. Skip and I are super excited to be working all week with Studio 158 capturing all of the hairstyles and fashion they are doing for the show.

For us this is such a great diversion… shooting fashion and the arts. It takes us back to our photography roots and really gets our creative sides thinking and working, which is such a benefit to our work at weddings and boudoir.

I have also decided to give myself a little treat and a photography assignment for the week. I am going to be carrying 2 cameras, one to shoot the event, and the second to do a very gritty behind the scenes at a fashion show series …… all done in black and white. Very journalistic in style, maybe a little dark and gritty…. I am sooo excited about this part ;o)

We will be involved with Fashion Week all week long Monday the 6th through Saturday the 11th, so will be out of the office and studio much more than usual and will be answering emails just as soon as we can. As always though we will be available by cell phone if you have something urgent… we are always here for you guys if you  need us ;o)

Stay tuned to the blog for some fun behind the scenes images!

Shadowcatcher’s Shadow Boudoir walks the walk in the Stiletto walk for Ovarian Cancer April 4, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 5:12 am

Last month while looking at my shoes, someone asked me kiddingly if I was going to do the Stiletto walk . I had no idea what they were talking about and listened intently while I got all of the details about Escondido’s Stiletto Walk to benefit ovarian cancer. It took me about 5 seconds to decide that this was a fantastic cause and what a great thing it would be for Shadow Boudoir to get behind. I contacted all of our girls and they were 100% with me. So early this evening we all met at the studio and pinned on our racing numbers, and headed to downtown Escondido to rock our stilettos for a great cause.

We arrived, registered and then had the great pleasure of meeting this couple  who really touched all of our hearts and brought home the true meaning of this event. The woman has ovarian cancer and in the past 2 years has been through 35 chemo sessions. Next week they are going in for another catscan… we all pray that they get great results.

To show his support, her husband jumped into a pair of heels to walk the walk… I love this shot, to me it sums up the entire event, and seriously tugs at my heart.

So no team would be complete without a coach… look who we found to coach us for the day! We couldnt get him into the famous Shadow zebra shoes, but thanks to Skip they got to make an apperance at the event!

While we were standing around waiting for the walk to start… along comes this guy….. we knew in a heartbeat he would be a great addition to the team, so we signed him on to Team Shadow Boudoir, no worries ladies though, I promise you wont see him in the studio for your session ;o)

Next… we ran into Mayor Lori! Skip and I have known Escondido’ s Mayor Lori for years through our involvement in the Arts in Escondido, she is a great supporter of the arts, and also our work… our town has the sweetest mayor anywhere!

So by now we are getting  a little restless and are ready to roll……. so more pics girls… love all the shoes!

Finally…. we’re off! The walk was supposed to be 2 blocks… but I think someone didnt calculate the route right, all told, we went 4 blocks in these puppies, but we all made it and had a fabulous time!

THE END!

working on our new ad April 3, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 8:58 pm

Wow! Last night we had a fantastic session at the studio! We are working on a new concept for our next ad in San Diego Style Wedding Magazine and had the great fortune of being able to work with so many great creative people who were all so excited to jump in and add their talents!

First ….our stunning model for the session was no other than Shadowcatcher Alum bride Patricia! We shot Patricia’s wedding last summer and were sooooo very excited to have her on board with us for this session. Our current ad, and the opening image on our site, is Patricia on her wedding day! We sooo love her!

Next came hair and makeup…. Patricia’s hair was done by Julianne Jones, owner of Studio 158 in downtown Escondido. Julieanne is such an artist herself, every do is a masterpiece! Julianne was really excited to be able to let go of conventional ideas, and give us a spectacular Vogue inspired style for Patricia. You will be seeing much more of her hairstyles in the upcoming week on our blog, Juliane and the girls at her salon are doing the hair for the models during Fashion Week next week and Skip and I will be behind the scenes with them capturing all their amazing work.

Makeup for Particia was done by Brenda Espinoza at Studio 158… whose work was stunning… exactly what we were looking for. I love it when I can  tell an artist the look I have in mind, and just let them go for it. The results are always the best! Brenda you rock!

Last….. and what sooooo made this look rock, was the floral arrangements prvided by Bethany at Splendid Sentiments. Every time I post Bethany’s name it seems to be followed by an OMG! And this blog is no exception! Bethany is the Picasso of florals, seriously, this girl will be such a big name someday. We are so thankful to know her and have  her collaborate with us. Bethany did 2 bouquets for the shoot, we told her to just go for it… let your imagination run wild…. and oh yeah… here it comes….OMG! On a side note, we found out that Bethany makes an awesome photo assistant too! Thanks B! ;o)

I am just posting a few here today that really jumped out at me when I downloaded the cards this morning. I still have many more to edit, and all of Skip’s shots too, so for now this is just a little teaser of things to come…..

Thank  you so much everyone for everything you put into this for us, we sooo appreciate it!
