Jen and Bucky’s E-sesh Teasers! September 30, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 5:55 pm

Tuesday, September 29th

This afternoon Skip and I got a chance to pry ourselves off of the computers, get away from editing for a while, and have some fun in Balboa Park with Jen and Bucky. Sometimes late in the year, we get couples whose weddings are right around the corner, this was how it went with Jen and Bucky… their wedding is 11 days away!

We started our session in Spanish Village and then walked around finding some great spots to shoot in.

Jen and Bucky LOVE to travel… so Skip and I suggested maybe we try some things at the train depot… what a great call! We got to the train station, found a train parked, all photo ready and started getting some shots. About 5 minutes into things, the trains conductor shouted down to Jen…. ARE YOU TWO GETTING MARRIED??? This guy was sooo the best! He invited Jen and Bucky up into the cab and we got some really great shots of them there… what a way to travel! Wooooo!

Here are a few of our fav’s from the session……

Sept 28th, 2009

7 weeks ago, Tracy and Rex, came into our studio looking for a photographer for their Los Willows wedding. Our usual interview lasts about 45 minutes, but our interview with these two went waaaay longer, we had the best time! It was like hanging out and chatting with old friends. 10 minutes into things, we felt like we had known them forever. They are just the most down to earth, lovable people ever. Rex- Rex Smith- was a major teen idol with hits “You Take My Breath away” and  “Everlasting Love”  Rex has also appeared both in the movie and on Broadway in Pirates of Penzance among many other Broadway shows, and also in the TV show Street Hawk  Rex’s son Brandon, who bears such a striking resemblance to his Dad Rex, was one of Rex’s groomsmen.

We brought along two of our assistants, Janelle who just arrived back from her Keith Urban tour and Veronica, just to be sure we had total coverage of their big event!

Tracy and Rex did all of their wedding planning themselves… and in 7 short weeks! It was quite an affair, with only their very closest friends in attendance, that included quite a few A list celebs and relatives. Actor Patrick Cassidy sang the song for the newleyweds first dance, and did a fantastic toast… that was also a bit of a roast ;o)

Tracy’s wedding gown was … breathtaking, and she floated down the aisle like a dream. Later that evening, during the reception, both Tracy and Rex changed into something a little less formal, but equally stunning, with Tracy in a stunning chinese gown, and Rex in a beautiful brocade jacket. All day they both looked totally red carpet!

During the reception Rex sang a few speical songs, including his hit “You Take My Breath Away” to his bride Tracy, and the couple did a great rendition of the Turtles, “Happy Together” with all of the guests (and two photographer for sure) joining in.

We had an amazing night capturing some truly beautiful moments, here are a few of our faves from the day…….

Thanks so much to Randy Juergenson video for getting this shot for us, it’s great to have a picture for our album too!

Working with Rex and Tracy was amazing, I think we have made some very special new friends… love you guys! Congratulations!

Believe it or not.. the holiday season is sneaking up on us in a big ol hurry, and our calender is starting to fill up fast with bookings for family sessions!

A family portrait session with us, is not your typical family portrait session… we specialize in making it F U N!

We want your session to be all about you! In studio or on location, our goal is to capture your family as they really are ;o)

We will do a couple of shots of the whole family together, and then break things down and do the kids individually, girls with mom, boys with dad, sisters together, brothers together, a mix of everything. The kids can totally be themselves. Our studio has some fun props to help them be just what they want to be, from a surfer, skier to a rock star! This is a session all the kids will be telling their friends about!

For a limited time, your session will include 20 free Norman Rockwell inspired holiday cards. This is where we create a fun chaotic family scene of your family in holiday mode!

Shadowcatcher Imagery has a wide variety of print sizes and framing options available, as well as some amazing prints on gallery wrapped canvas, perfect for hanging over the fireplace.

Saturday Sept. 19th

Today Skip and I headed solo up to the beautiful wine country in Temecula to a winery we had never been to, La Cereza. I have to say… I LOVE this winery! The view, the lighting, the ceremony site, the impeccable attention to detail, the barrel room… maybe most of all the art they had hanging there, and their uber cool wine labels!

LOVE it!

girlfriends

Sungandi and Yuta were married a year ago in Singapore, and planned all year for their celebration with family and friends here in the US.

Thir event was beautiful! And what an amazing couple! We wished we had longer to work with them, the time just flew by!

So to Yuta and Sugandi, Congratulations to you both, and thank you for choosing Shadowcatcher Imagery to capture your special day!

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to work with one of our Shadowcatcher alum brides putting together a very special gift for her hubby who is leaving soon for overseas.

Now accepting bookings for Holiday Portraits! September 16, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 5:35 pm

98 days from today, the ribbons and paper will be flying form under your tree… I KNOW right….!

That means… roughly 84 short days from today your Christmas cards and family portraits should be winging their way across the country to family and friends everywhere!

And now you know what that means……

It’s time to get your family all dusted off, out of their swimsuits and into to our new studio for some super fun family portrait time!

We have been busily working away on a really fun new concept for your cards and portraits. The family session, the way it really is.

Not that we can’t do a great family portrait, but as many times as you have done this, you know the bloopers are almost always the most fun. Why not break the rules and do it on purpose?

Thinking a little more traditionally? We can do that too….

Christmas cards and Portraits in all sizes are available as well as some truly stunning wall canvases, that make excellent holiday gifts.

Please contact us by email for information on our Holiday sessions- shadowcatcherimagery@cox.net

BIG thanks to the Delay family who volunteered their time to help us with this promotion!

interesting and somewhat odd wedding trivia-1 September 9, 2009

A chimney sweep…..really? WHERE would you find one of those in Southern California?

“There are many myths and traditions associated with chimney sweeps many of reasons for which are lost in the mists of time. One reason from folklore is that when on one occasion King George II’s carriage horses bolted the only person to attempt to stop them was a small sooty figure of a man, a chimney sweep.

It is considered extremely good luck, if on the journey to the Church you see a chimney sweep and even greater good luck if you saw the sweeps brush emerging out of the top of the chimney. So to this day to see a chimney sweep and receive the Kiss of Luck after the wedding ceremony is supposed to bring good fortune to the newly married couple.

Some Bride’s and Groom’s to ensure their good fortune will employ a real live sweep to be present on their WeddingDay as did Stephen Hendry The World Champion Snooker Player when he married. The film Mary Poppins had a sweep (Dick van Dyke) in as a good luck character.

Chim chim erny chim chim cheeri
A sweep is as lucky as lucky can be
Good luck will rub off if I shake hands with you. “
