Amy & Gary’s E-Session

Tuesday July 22nd

Last night we had a super fun E-session with Amy and Gary. We started out at The Promonade and then headed to the OB Pier.

Sometimes you really just get lucky on a shoot. While driving down Newport on our way to the Pier we noticed a huge filming crew on Newport. Hollywood was in town filming  Mythological X, something new in the CBS lineup coming this fall. Since they were set up for filming they had the most amazing lighting set up on the street and on our way back, we all parked and took advantage of it and got some terrific shots! I found this online when we got home….

“Mythological X” was created and written by Diane Ruggiero, one of the writers and producers of the “Veronica Mars” show,” which was also filmed in San Diego.
Sound mixer Trevor Black said the storyline revolves around a young woman living in OB. A fortuneteller tells her that she will either marry her prefect match within a year or never at all. The twist to the tale is that she has already met and broken up with the right man. The episodes will revolve around her quest to discover which one of her exes is Mr. Right.”

We have about 15 really great shots to blog from Amy & Gary’s session and it’s driving me nuts that I have to wait for the computer to come back from repair before I can work on them. C’mon Geek Squad… hurry up!

Lila and Richards Wedding!

Just a little teaser from Lla and Richards wedding at the Oceanview Room.

More to come soon guys, just as soon as our computer issues are  resolved.

***We are having some computer problems here this week, our main computer that has all of our editing and file uploading software  decided it would be fun to give us some trouble right in the middle of busy season

So, while that computer is out being repaired we are limited on what we can post and edit.

No worries on files though.. everything here is always backed up on external hard drives and off site hosting so all of our client files are safe, it’s just our work flow that is being interrupted.

ila and dj’s engagement session

Wednesday July 17th

Last night we had a blast working with Ila and Dj! Ila and Dj wanted something downtown and a little bit of greenery in Balboa Park. So…. to switch things up a bit and get some fun new locations in we met them at the Park Admin building across from Balboa Park. We had some fun scenery and no crowds!

After the park we headed to the Gaslamp and worked until there was no more light… honestly, we could have shot all night with these two!

crystal & scott have an early morning e-session!

Saturday June 12th La Jolla Cove

Saturday morning Skip and I made our first stop at Starbucks for giant caffine jolt and then headed out to La Jolla for an early morning e-session with Crystal and Scott. We missed the crowds which was great… had the cave all to ourselves! Woooo!

Crystal and Scott booked us kind of last minute…and we are so happy they did… their wedding is next month at the Prado!

my inspirations…. ahhhh a day off!

Not a wedding or engagement… some personal reflections……

This weekend was really great, after 6 weekends of weddings and endless hours at the computer editing, we had some time to relax and re-visit some of the things that influence and drive us.

The plan Sunday was to get down to the San Diego Museum of Art to see the Georgia O’Keefe exhibit. I have been a Georgia O’Keefe fan for years, her paintings inspire me greatly, they are soft, feminine yet so vibrant and strong!

Seeing her paintings in person was amazing, as I looked at them I could almost imgine her hand painting each stroke.

These pintings also made me think about my other favorite influence, Salvador Dali, while completely different, I started thinking about  similaraties between the two. Dali is so much more out there though… one crazy painter!! But I love his work as well!!

The melting clocks have always been a favorite of mine. I winder if it is because I am always on such a tight time line at weddings and would love to just see time melt out of the picture. ;o)

One day I would love to do a TTD session out in the desert with a bride and then work it in photoshop adding some of Dali’s melting clocks into the scenery.  Something to think about for this winter when things slow down.

 After the SDMA we went over to the San Diego Art Institute, which features local artists. Before we got into weddings we were very active members and showed our photography in juried shows there. This is also where I was featured in 2 solo shows of my photography. It was fun seeing the work of artist/friends that we have not seen in awhile and it was a good reminder of our photography roots.. art.

So.. after some relaxation and a great revisit into the art world, I am totally fired up and ready for another wedding!  Tonight we are going to a 5 hour photography workshop and I can’t wait!

 

rock the reception

While flipping mindlessly through channels on the TV tonight Skip and I stumbled on to yet another wedding related series… but this one rocks! (sorry)

Rock The Reception on TLC!! OMG……. it looked like sooo much fun!

Couples hire choreographers to teach them some amazing dance for the first dance, one included the bridesmaids and the other included the Maid of Honor and Best Man.

So…. we were both just sitting here drooling thinking about how we would LOVE to shoot a dance like that, so…. to any of our couples brave enough to go for it, we will include a free TTD (Trash The Dress) or Bride & Groom session if  you do something like this for your first dance!

What can I say, I am a dance fanatic ;o)

Jessica and Peter’s almost E-Session

Some days the elements just don’t work in your favor. Sunday evening we met Peter and Jessica out at the beach in Cardiff and found our favorite shooting spot was completely underwater! Arrrgh!

So…. we did a few quick shots so that they could have an image for their engagement announcement in the paper and recheduled for next week when we had a low tide.

Stay tuned… these two are going to be a blast on their session!

 

Ericka and Seans E-Session

Friday evening we headed down to Balboa Park for a fun engagement session with Ericka and Sean who are getting married this August! We had a great time doing some shots in the park and then headed over to Seaport Village to catch the sunset.

Nothing like the perfect sunset… ahhhhhhh!!
