We got together Thursday afternoon with our friends and newlyweds Tracy and Rex Smith to do some headshots of him for upcoming projects.  Working with Rex is always a high energy event, he’s always “on!”  With Tracy serving as art director and Rex working his charm to the max, we got some really great images of him.  Afterward, we adjourned to our studio to go over the wedding images we’d done, followed by a great dinner at Stone Brewery, just up the hill from our place.  All in all, a wonderful day with some really wonderful people.  Thanks, Rex and Tracy!rexweb1

Jenn and Bucky tie the knot at Pala Mesa Golf Resort! October 13, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 2:32 am

Sunday, October 11th

Today Skip and I headed out to Pala Mesa Golf Resort with our assistant Elizabeth for Bucky and Jenn’s wedding. If you scroll down a few entries, you will see we just did Jenn and Bucky’s engagement session. These two were a whirlwind into our lives, and we have loved every fast paced minute of it.

I have no idea how these two pulled this wedding together so quickly, but I have to say… it was BEAUTIFUL! From the weather,  to flowers, ceremony, everything had a very special personal touch.

Here are a few of our favs from the day…….

See what I mean…. how much fun are these two????

Ok…. now seriously… Bucky has more dance moves and energy on the dance floor than 1980’s Michael Jackson!

All of the images from Jenn and Bucky’s wedding will be available for viewing and ordering on our online viewing and ordering site http://www.shadowcatcher.photoreflect.com on or around November 7th.

My Fav Starbucks Barista… Morgan and Jennifer say “I Do” at The Rancho Bernardo Winery! October 13, 2009

Saturday October 10th, 2009

Todays wedding was a super special one for us, my fav barista Morgan got married! I have known Morgan 3 or 4 years, he works at the Starbucks right near our house. Over the years we had gotten to know eachother very well and have shared a lot of our interest in photography. We were really excited when Morgan asked us to be the photographers at his and Jen’s wedding. This is when we started to get to know Morgans fiance Jennifer. From the first moment we met her we knew she was the perfect bride for Morgan! These two are the perfect match!

The wedding was absolutely beautiful! Our favorite florist Bethany from Splendid Sentiments did the florals, and as always did not disappoint us, in fact, she blew us away with her creativity on this one!

Jennifer was beyond stunning in her gown, and Morgan looked pretty darn good too! We had a great time working with them at all of the really fun spots at the winery…. and got some amazing spots… we LOVE this venue!

Here are a few of our favorites from the day……

Congratulations again you two… and Morgan hurry home from the honeymoon… I need my Pepermint Mochas ;o)

All of the images from Morgan and Jennifer’s wedding will be available for viewing and ordering on our online viewing and ordering site http://www.shadowcatcher.photoreflect.com on or around November 1st.

Last week we were treated to an amazing party hosted by San Diego Style Wedding Magazine. If you haven’t gotten your copy yet… be sure to head out and get one! This new magazine is super packed with great new articles! And… we have lot’s of images scattered throughout the magazine as well as a featured wedding from Jessica and Peter’s wedding at Paradise Pointe!

We were super excited to get the featured image for the article on Boudoir Photography.  And there is also a great interview with one of our Shadow Alum brides Diane, who I also did a boudoir session with! We have been advertising our wedding business with SDSW magazine for 4 years now, and this year decided to run an ad for Shadow Boudoir as well. Now that we have the new studio… what better time?

Jen and Bucky’s E-sesh Teasers! September 30, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — shadowcatcher @ 5:55 pm

Tuesday, September 29th

This afternoon Skip and I got a chance to pry ourselves off of the computers, get away from editing for a while, and have some fun in Balboa Park with Jen and Bucky. Sometimes late in the year, we get couples whose weddings are right around the corner, this was how it went with Jen and Bucky… their wedding is 11 days away!

We started our session in Spanish Village and then walked around finding some great spots to shoot in.

Jen and Bucky LOVE to travel… so Skip and I suggested maybe we try some things at the train depot… what a great call! We got to the train station, found a train parked, all photo ready and started getting some shots. About 5 minutes into things, the trains conductor shouted down to Jen…. ARE YOU TWO GETTING MARRIED??? This guy was sooo the best! He invited Jen and Bucky up into the cab and we got some really great shots of them there… what a way to travel! Wooooo!

Here are a few of our fav’s from the session……

Sept 28th, 2009

7 weeks ago, Tracy and Rex, came into our studio looking for a photographer for their Los Willows wedding. Our usual interview lasts about 45 minutes, but our interview with these two went waaaay longer, we had the best time! It was like hanging out and chatting with old friends. 10 minutes into things, we felt like we had known them forever. They are just the most down to earth, lovable people ever. Rex- Rex Smith- was a major teen idol with hits “You Take My Breath away” and  “Everlasting Love”  Rex has also appeared both in the movie and on Broadway in Pirates of Penzance among many other Broadway shows, and also in the TV show Street Hawk  Rex’s son Brandon, who bears such a striking resemblance to his Dad Rex, was one of Rex’s groomsmen.

We brought along two of our assistants, Janelle who just arrived back from her Keith Urban tour and Veronica, just to be sure we had total coverage of their big event!

Tracy and Rex did all of their wedding planning themselves… and in 7 short weeks! It was quite an affair, with only their very closest friends in attendance, that included quite a few A list celebs and relatives. Actor Patrick Cassidy sang the song for the newleyweds first dance, and did a fantastic toast… that was also a bit of a roast ;o)

Tracy’s wedding gown was … breathtaking, and she floated down the aisle like a dream. Later that evening, during the reception, both Tracy and Rex changed into something a little less formal, but equally stunning, with Tracy in a stunning chinese gown, and Rex in a beautiful brocade jacket. All day they both looked totally red carpet!

During the reception Rex sang a few speical songs, including his hit “You Take My Breath Away” to his bride Tracy, and the couple did a great rendition of the Turtles, “Happy Together” with all of the guests (and two photographer for sure) joining in.

We had an amazing night capturing some truly beautiful moments, here are a few of our faves from the day…….

Thanks so much to Randy Juergenson video for getting this shot for us, it’s great to have a picture for our album too!

Working with Rex and Tracy was amazing, I think we have made some very special new friends… love you guys! Congratulations!
