jessica and greg come all the way from md to sd for their sunset e-session

Sunday July 5th…..

Skip and I couldn’t wait to get out of the Escondido heat and over to the coast for our session with Jessica and Greg! By the time we got there it was 20 degrees cooler… woooya!

Jessica and Greg live in Maryland and had found us online when searching for photographers. San Diego is Jessica’s hometown and their 2011 wedding will here, so what better place for their engagement session!

We had a great time getting to know these two and got some really fun shots! And the sunset… finally … made an appearance… so long June Gloom!

Here are a few of our favs from their session……

why we soooooo love what we do

knowing we made someone feel so good…..pirceless!

An email just in from our bride featured in the blog below!

Heather and Skip,

Thank you soooo much for all that you did to help make the day what it was. You were wonderful, kind and patient, I cant thank you enough. The pics are such a tease and I look so pretty! Thank you! I have never felt or honestly believed that I could look so beautiful and with your help and Taras you made it happen. I wish I could share you with the world. You both are amazing and thank you for capturing all the splendid chaos. Now I get to see my wedding through everyone else’s eyes. There is sooo much gratitude and with my trouble with words its hard for me to share the gratitude I feel. All I can say is thank you for making my wedding a dream come true. Best to you both and thank you for being such wonderful people. I hope someday our paths cross again.

Christie and Doug say “We Do” at Ponte Winery in Temecula!

Thursday July 2nd
Today we got to do a Destination Wedding almost right in our own backyard! A destination for us… no… but YES for Christie and Doug!
Christie and Doug are from North Carolina and did some long distance planning to make their Ponte Winery happen. It was such luck that Christie found us. She was looking for a hair stylist online and found one of our fav stylists Tara from Studio 158. Tare and Christie hit it off right from the start with their shared love of horses and Tara happened to ask Christie if she had a photographer. She didn’t, and Tara recommended us right away! We have worked quite a bit in the past with Tara, doing a beautiful bridal session with Tara and her Fresian Horse out at Los Willows earlier this year.
We arrived at Ponte and were kind of surprised how really hot it was out there.. summer has hit for sure! The getting ready rooms were nice and cool though and by the time we hit Here Comes The Bride time… a beautiful cooling breeze was blowing through the vineyard!
We had an amazing day with Christie and Doug, we have known them for such a short time, but these two are the type of people that you can easily feel close too! The winery was beautiful, this is a really amazing place for a wedding! We got some really fun shots in the barrel room and some Shadowcatcher Classics out in the vineyard as well. It was also so nice to see Karon from Ponte again. Karon is the wedding magician out at Ponte, and the better half of Michael, the genius behind CAKE, the Temecula valley newsletter.

Sometimes you just can’t help getting in on the pictures ;o)

Christie and Doug… it was such a pleasure getting to know and work with you both!

Congratulations!

Thinking Upside down ;o)

Saturday June 27th 2009

One of the most fun parts of our business is the relationships we build with our clients. It seems like only yesterday that we did Jasmine and Wes’ wedding, but it couldn’t have been! On Saturday we had the delight of having Jasmine and Wes in our studio… PLUS their adorable twin girls who are 2 years old! Man time flies!

I havent had any time yet to work on their images but really loved this one…..

So in the spirit of keeping the blog here fresh and new, I am going to start off with this one and add more next week when I have them all edited…..

Is she the cutest! Stay tuned for more!

Lara and Mike’s E-sesh teasers- Take 2

Friday June 19th
Sometimes mother nature just doesn’t seem to get out photo memos.. and when that happens, we pull something else out from our bag of tricks! Lara and Mike wanted to do a sunset session at the beach. Our first attempt was a couple of weeks ago, and when we all met at the beach we agreed that it was just too overcast, so we decided to reschedule and try again. Well… Friday was our try again day and by checking the Cardiff web cam we found out that once again… June gloom was graying our sunset ;o(
Because their wedding is next month, we really needed to get this done, so since we both live in Escondido, where June gloom really doesn’t happen, we headed to one of our fav local spots and used some very un-beachy scenery.

Here are a few of our favs…….

If you look in the mirror you can see Lara and Mike’s pup Vinnie… he was such a sweetheart!

This is one of my, by far… absolutely favorite places to shoot, a little bit on the grunge side… but soooooo amazing!

Lara and Mike are getting married next month at Los Willows… stay tuned for more images from the wedding!

Aloooooha! Lori and Ben say I do at Arbor Terrace in Fallbrook!

Sunday, June 15th

The 2nd wedding of our double header wedding had us out a a truly amazing venue in Fallbrook, the Arbor Terrace at the Grand Tradition. This a venue we have never worked at and were really excited when we met with Lori and Ben the first time… we had seen pictures of Arbor Terrace  and REALLY wanted to do a wedding there. We had our fingers so crossed that they would book with us.. and they did! Since that day we have just had the best times working with them, through their engagement session and then the wedding. Lori and I seemed to click on so many levels, not to mention the all important shoe diva bond ;o)

Lori and Ben are just amazing together, two of the warmest, most loveable people you would ever want to meet. And both their families … just the best. Throughout the day we shared so many laughs and oh yes tears… happy ones, with them all. It was a day we will never forget.

As if things couldn’t get much better for us, our fav  florist Bethany from Splendid Sentiments was Lori and Ben’s Florist, s we just knew the flowers would be stunning.

Here are some of our favorites…..

Lori’s Dad brought along a great photo prop and get away car… his 1968 Camaro.

The Bride and Groom were escorted from the ceremony by a bagpiper… nice touch!

The Father Daughter dance.. this one was quite emotional. I always have  some very teary moments behind the camera on these… but this one got me a little more than usual. Their was a special slide show playing behind them as the danced their dance.

And then the party started……

Mr Franklin ALWAYS trumps in the money dance… especially when it’s in the hands of your new  Mom in Law!

Ben and Lori… CONGRATULATIONS!  Hope you two are having the best time ever in Hawaii!

Family, friends and other vendors, please feel free to use any of the images on our blog for your myspace, facebooks, or anything you would like, please just keep our logo on the images ;0)

All of Lori and Ben’s images will be  on our online viewing site http://www.shadowcatcher.photoreflect.com  on or around July 5th… until then we hope you enjoy these teasers!

Anchors Away! Kerri and Jeremy’s wedding sneek peek from the Star of India & Berkely!

Friday June 12th, 2009

Today team Shadowcatcher headed in a different direction… south to the Harbor and the Star of India and Berkely for Kerri and Jeremys big day. The weather was a bit overcast but that helped keep things nice and cool!

Our assistant Veronica and I headed over to the Embassy suites to do some behind the scenes getting ready with Kerri and the girls, while Skip solo’d it at the ships with the guys. They had a great time making use of all of the really different  photo opps on all of the ships there.

Once Kerri was in her dress we went to the little park that has the famous sailor kiss. I KNEW that was down there somewhere but had never seen it… man those two have huge feet! ;o)

We were a little worried about how 100 people were going to fit on the deck of the Star for the ceremony, so we went down and checked out how we were going to cover things the day before. That really worked out well, and it looks like we hit it from all angles. And everyone fit just great!

It was a beautiful day, everything went really great from start to finish!

Here are a few of our favs from the day…..

All of the amazing people we got to spend the day with!

Kerri and Jeremy’s  grand exit was in one of San Diego’s stylin Pedi Cabs… this one was awesome!

Kerri & Jeremy… thank you and all of your families for all of your hospitality, it has been so great following you on this adventure!

Amy & David say “I Do” in Style… at Los Willows

Saturday June 6th

The Shadowcatcher Team was out in full force today for Amy and David’s wedding at Los Willows. We seem to be booked a lot this year out there which is terrific! We love the venue and all of the staff is just like family to us ;o)  Shooting a lot at the same venue makes us want to crank up our creativity, we want every couples  images to look different, be very special, and very “them”. So every wedding we do out there we give ourselves the challenge of finding a new spot to work, find a shot that is totally new!

Amy and Davids wedding was really beautiful! Done in shades of green and brown, with all of the flowers being done by Amy’s mom who doubled as Mother of The Bride and florist on the wedding day! Everything wont just perfectly!

One really special touch they did was to have a special dance with both their parents and grandparents. The DJ played a medley of songs from each of their first dance songs from their wedding day. It was really beautiful, all 5 couples were on the dance floor and when “Their Song” was played, you could so see the love and remembrance of that moment years ago relived in their eyes. Are you feeling teary eyed…. we sure were!

So… here are a few of our faves from the day…….

Some details…..

One of my favorite times.. the getting ready….

“The Gift”

Who was at Amy and David’s wedding? Everyone here!

I never get tired of this shot… there is always something magical about getting a couple together under a veil, somehow it closes off the rest of the world and no one else is there.

Congratulations Amy and Dave!

It was an honor to be a part of such a fabulous day!
